How Can I Help?

1. What are the different options for me to help?

There are four primary ways to help the children of Amani:

Make a one-time donation, or a contribution in the name of a friend as a birthday or holiday gift. Because it is a small, grassroots charity, every donation to Amani makes a difference - your specific donation might provide a table for children to eat on, or send a child to school for a year, or pay for first-aid supplies. For an idea of how your donation could be spent, click here. If you donate to Amani, you are free either to specify which need or program you would like your contribution to be used towards, or to leave it to the Amani staff to choose the most urgent need. Either way you will be informed specifically how your donation was used in a personal thank-you letter. If you contribute in the name of a loved one, Amani will send a thank-you to that person along with a drawing by one of the children.
Partner with Amani through making regular contributions. Amani's ability to provide quality, reliable support to the homeless children who turn to us for hope is dependent upon our financial stability. You can allow us to better plan for the expansion of programs and services by becoming a Helping Hand and partnering with Amani to give on a monthly basis.
Connect your business, school, church, or other club's charitable giving to Amani. Amani is a great cause for fundraisers, and tax-deductible organizational donations in some countries. Volunteer at Amani. Volunteers make an invaluable contribution to the lives of the Amani children. Amani is currently receiving applications for volunteer positions in September 2008 and later. Please contact us at info@amanikids.org for more information.

Amani has two volunteer programs, our Ambassador program for short term volunteers (1-2 weeks), and our long term volunteer program (6-18 months). Long term Amani volunteers must be 22 years or older and we give strong preference to volunteers who can spend 6 months or longer at Amani and have practical skills to offer.

2. How can I make a donation to Amani?

By Credit Card

In the UK or elsewhere: Go to http://www.justgiving.com/amanichildren/donate to make your donation. Donations made through JustGiving are tax-free and eligible for Gift Aid in the UK.

In the US or elsewhere: Go to http://www.peacehousefoundation.org/donate.html and click the donate button to make your contribution online. In the "Review Your Payment" part of the process, please click on "Use my donation in this way" and type "Amani." This ensures that 100% of your donation will go straight to Amani. 100% of donations made through Peace House Foundation go directly to Amani Children's Home, and donations are tax-deductible in the United States.

3. How are my contributions used?

If you have earmarked your donation for a specific need, we will use your gift in the way you have specified. If not, your donation is used to meet our most urgent need, such as food, medicine, school fees. For a partial list of Amani's current needs, click here. Because Amani is a small, grass-roots charity, there is no "overhead" - 100% of your donation goes directly to help the children at Amani. Amani's accounts are kept in conjunction with a British accountant from the Board of Trustees to ensure that all contributions are responsibly used for the benefit of the children.
