Run with a purpose: 7200km for Hope.

Amani Centre for Street Children in Tanzania will be celebrating its 25th anniversary on 25th September 2026.

This event is being planned by Friends of Amani UK (https://www.friendsofamani.co.uk/) and all funds raised will be sent to support the work of Amani in Tanzania.

How to join in

There are a number of ways of joining in this event:

  • If you are a member of a running club would you be able to get your club to do a run together as a group to raise funds?

  • If you regularly participate in Park Run, would your local park run group do one of their regular runs as a fundraiser?

  • Are you part of any other community groups eg. scouts, church etc who would arrange a joint event? Individuals could run just one kilometre or more if they choose!

  • Could your school do a fundraiser with each child running one kilometre and contributing £1 each

  • Or you can participate as an individual running whatever distance you choose.

How to donate/ raise funds

The aim is for each participant to raise a minimum of £1 per Kilometre

  • A JustGiving page will be created and the link posted here shortly. You can then make your contributions either directly through the JustGiving page or by adding your group (or yourself as an individual) as a ‘team’ on the JustGiving page so that your supporters can make their donations to your ‘team’. You can also link Strava to the JustGiving page to keep a record of your kilometres so your supporters can see what you have achieved.

  • You can make your donations directly through https://www.amanikids.org/donate (selecting GBP as the currency) (NB: there are no transfer charges as this goes through Friends of Amani UK bank account)

  • You can donate by bank transfer to Friends of Amani UK;

How will we know how many Kilometres are being achieved?

In all cases please contact Friends of Amani UK by email on friendsofamani.uk@gmail.com to inform us that you are participating and with an indication of the number of kilometres you/ your group are aiming to achieve so that we can keep a record of how close we are getting to our target and so that we can keep in touch with you and support your fundraising where possible.

Please also email friendsofamani.uk@gmail.com or info@amanikids.org if you have any further questions or suggestions about this event.

And please share this link as widely as you can!

Many thanks for your support for this wonderful organisation.

Every kilometre run makes a real difference to a child’s life.

Asante Sana!
